Class Reflection

College English in general was a new experience for me due to the fact that we geared more towards blogs then actual page essays was a great way to have us writing more and develop our style of writing. In English 102, Professor Candia, taught us many methods when analyzing literature that would help us understand what we were reading better in order for us to answer questions she was answering in the way she wanted us to. For example, she had us analyze not only the background of the story but the background of the authors, which gave us a sense of how the work was developed or what it was based off of. I find myself doing that now regardless of what type of work I explore, whether it is a movie or a book, I search up the authors background and the background/setting of the story. Another technique Professor Candia taught us, was the way we analyze a story rather than having intro, plot, conclusion, I discovered exposition, rising action, climax, conflict/suspense, falling conflict, and resolution, including how to identify them. I have always been interested in English, as I stated in a previous blog, I secretly wanted to pursue a writing career but in the meantime I'll stick to writing for class and reading for entertainment. I found myself being able to express my literature more comfortably after taking this class, with the diverse works we read and came to appreciate.
